Ein binäres Gigabyte entspricht 1024 MiB = 1.073.741.824 Byte = 2³⁰ Byte. Korrekte IEC-Bezeichnung: Gibibyte (GiB). Auf dieser Stufe beträgt die Differenz zur dezimalen GB-Definition (10⁹ Byte) bereits etwa 7,4 %.

Das ist der Grund, weshalb eine "1 TB-Festplatte" im Betriebssystem nur rund 931 GiB anzeigt: Der Hersteller rechnet dezimal, das OS binär.
